What a great show!!! I’ll have my stuff done some time today. I have video and pictures and stuff!!!
Thank you! I’ve been wondering for ages what they sounded like live.
thank you so much for this. I hope they’ll make it to cross the ocean sooner or later.
Is that Aug. 24th date right? On their official site, it says they’re in Philly that night at The Khyber. Just wondering if its changed.
07 is probably “Closing Song” (with a beautiful violin solo at the end) if they did the exact same set that they did at Joe’s Pub and Northsix.
Thanks for pointing that out Matt. I love the Khyber, though I think the last band I saw there was The Cooper Temple Clause. Maybe it’s time for a visit.
Track 7 might be Closing Song, but there’s no violin in it. hmmm… Wish I could have been there last night. Sounds like it was amazing. I passed Zach on the street a few hours before the show. I should have just asked him myself.
06a is “Ederlezi” an Goran BREGOVIC song from the movie “Dom za vesanje / Time of the Gypsies” directed by Emir Kusturica.

Thank you again.
Last night was amazing, indeed.
Beirut are playing Mercury Lounge on August 25th, not the 24th, and they’ll be with Get Him Eat Him. So says one of the guys from Get Him Eat Him! It’s kind of a weird pairing but I am pysched since I really like both bands.
Listening to the MP3s now on my iPod, and track 7 definitely is Closing Song. I wish I could remember the name of the other new song since I’m pretty sure they played it last night/
Having not seen Beirut yet, reading reviews like this one about their live show, I’m thinking The Khyber is the perfect venue for their show. My only beef with The Khyber is how ungodly hot it gets there during a soldout show. I know lots of places get like that, but The Khyber is opne of the places where its downright oppressive.
For more context on that last song, here’s Zach on Balkan music on Said the Gramophone, talking about “Siki, siki baba.”
Oh, and listening to track 7, I can confirm that it’s called “Closing Song” and there is definitely violin!
the unplugged interlude is a balkan song called “ederlezi”
If The Khyber gets hotter than SoundFix his ukulele’s going to spontaneously combust.

Track 5 = Montauk?
Thanks for posting these! I went to the Northsix show and I loved the different live arrangements of most of the songs and the Siki Siki Baba cover, so it was really nice to revisit them.
Zach introduced the 5th song at N6 with “This song is named after a town on Long Island that starts with ‘M’” So my friend shouts “Montauk!” (because we live out there) and Zach retorts back “No! It’s Not! Haha!” Guess he was just being an asshole…
